BOARD & TRAIN
Here at Howling Woods K9 we are focused on the training of family pets. Our focus is on bettering the human & dog bond through our training programs. Training is a necessity for dogs to live their most wholesome life. They are much happier, confident, well-adjusted animals when they have someone to give them that much needed structure in their life. A well-trained dog is less likely to display destructive behaviors such as jumping on guests, barking at the mail man, and/or chewing up your expensive furniture. We as pet owners tend to live happier lives when we are happy within our relationships with our animals. For a dog, being given the opportunity to please their most entrusted human, YOU, training is essential. It gives the dog a task and he knows he can rely on you for that guidance and structure.

When we notice our dog is displaying inappropriate behaviors towards others such as excessive barking, jumping up on people, pulling on a leash walk, it can be stressful for an owner. It can be embarrassing and leave us feeling at a loss as to where to go & what to do. Sometimes we resort to the easiest solution, not taking our dog out for that much needed walk and instead letting them out in the back yard to run and exercise. Or staying home from a vacation to make sure they’re not getting into things they shouldn’t be. This is not only unfair to you but most importantly, it is stressful for the dog. A dog needs a healthy amount of exercise, mentally & physically. They need enough stimulation to not choose to carry out those unwanted behaviors.

If you want your furry family member to learn what appropriate behavior is and what it is not, to look to you for that guidance and support we know YOU want to provide, sign up for one of our board and train programs. We will be happy to assist you and your dog on their journey. By getting ahead of all those unwanted behaviors BEFORE they start or learning how to manage them appropriately if they have already started can only benefit the both of you. We will do all that we can to ensure you have the tools you need to succeed to continue the work at home after graduating from one of our programs.

We offer discounted maintenance training for LIFE for ALL of our graduated pets. If you choose to board with us after graduating from our program, maintenance training sessions will be discounted. BASIC OBEDIENCE - $1300
Age - 6months & older
Duration - 2 weeks
In our Basic Obedience program your dog will have an individualized lesson plan to build his or her understanding of basic manners. In this program we will work with your dog on basic commands including Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, Off, & Place. They will learn the importance of leash manners and basic handling. We are a relationship-based training facility. We will work together with your dog from the ground up. Your dog will be given a specialized itinerary to suit your specific needs. First, building our human-dog bond before pushing them to do things they do not yet understand. We recommend this training program for dogs who have not been through a training program before or may have but you have not seen results. If you wish for your dog to be given the necessary life skills of walking nicely on leash, politely waiting at doorways, and keeping all four paws on the ground when people are around, this training program is suited for you!
PUPPY INTRODUCTION TO BASIC OBEDIENCE - $1200
Age - 8 weeks - 6 months
Duration - 2 weeks
In our Puppy Introduction to Basic Obedience program, we work with your new puppy to understand basic manners. We introduce your puppy to commands including Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Heel, Off, and Place. They will be introduced to proper handling, leash manners, crate training, house breaking, threshold manners and appropriate social play with other dogs. Your puppy will learn the importance of acceptable behaviors, and behaviors which are not. Your puppy will return to you with the foundational skills to continue to build upon for life!
THINGS TO
KNOW
To qualify for a program your pet must complete a FREE full day Meet & Greet evaluation prior to boarding with us. During this evaluation process we will assess the overall comfortability levels of your pet with staff and with other pets to determine if we are a good fit for your pet.
Our programs include a wire or vari-kennel suited to the appropriate size of your pet. They will be housed in their kennel for naptime & nighttime, provided with water, cozy bedding, and toys if acceptable. The basic obedience program will include feedings 2x a day. Our puppy program will include feedings 3x a day. Your pet will be given multiple outings outdoors to relieve themselves and play each day.

IMPORTANT NOTES: We do NOT specialize in Behavior Modification. If your dog is in any way showing signs of aggression toward humans or other dogs, we will NOT allow your pet to board with us. We would recommend you seek out a Behavior Modification Specialist.
For our Board and Train's, each dog is an individual and will learn at their own pace. We do our best to make the learning process as quick and easy to understand as possible for each dog. Some may learn faster or slower than others due to age, temperament, personality, and breed. We make no guarantee that every dog will be at the exact level you expect of them when ready for departure day. With that said, we do our best with the knowledge we have to keep the learning process a fun and exciting one. We want your pup to be as excited to learn new behaviors as we are to teach them.
